One of the highlights of my 3 months stay in Robe in early 2014 was my visit to the South East Field Days at Lucindale. For those of you who may not be in the know, its only about 45 minutes drive from Robe towards Naracoorte. I remember visiting when i was much younger and we lived over in Horsham. Even back then I remember how much there was to see, and its not all about farms, if you are not into that.
Last year, we spend the day browsing through all sorts of displays and shops, from the ever popular Allingtons Outpost, to a wide range of wineries including Tidswell Wines, Raidis Estate and Brand’s Laira to name just a few. I then spent some time checking our the new cars at the massive OG Roberts Stand (and got to say hi to our neighbours at Robe) and then sample some of the home cooking from the CWA stall in the centre of the Field Days Site. There were local plant farms, both local and city schools have displays and a myriad of food vendors.
I have just been taking a look at the field days website and it looks like there are some exciting events on the way
“In the Yakka/Aussie Flavours pavilions we have managed to secure the services of one of our up and coming young Chefs, Callum Hann of Masterchef fame, and his business partner Accredited Practicing Dietitian, Themis Chryssidis. These two exciting young men are bringing their “Sprout Cooking School” to the South East Field Days which consists of hands on interactive cooking classes using all local fresh ingredients. With Sprout being in our Yakka Pavilion next to the Aussie Flavours and our Limestone Coast Food Group, it should prove to be a roaring success.”
If you have not yet visited the South East Field Days at Lucindale, make 2015 the year that you do! We currently have the weekend of the 20th and 21st of March available at Villa Malmo, so if you would like to make a weekend of it, let us know.
